Sanborn Central Vision, Mission, and Goals

Vision StatementVision For Sanborn Central Communities

(Artesian, Forestburg and Letcher, SD)

Sanborn Central Communities will work together and enjoy the successes of bringing new life back to our communities.  People will want to live and work in our progressive, attractive, and friendly communities.

The communities will have asphalt paved streets. The homes along these streets will be repaired and repainted to improve the standard of life in these communities.  Yards and street right of ways will be cleaned and well maintained to create an attractive and inviting place for people to come home to.  Each community will have areas of new housing and low income living facilities for the elderly and disabled citizens.

New businesses and industries will fill the need for more jobs, and a greater need for employees to fill these jobs will result in increased population which will create other needs.  All infrastructures will be updated to accommodate the increasing population.  Water systems and power supplies to the communities will be upgraded to handle the needs of the community’s growth.  There will be playgrounds for the children and community activities for all ages.

When approaching the Sanborn Central School, people will be welcomed by the sign and lighted flag by the driveway.  If they are coming to enjoy the sporting events or the concerts and plays held in the school, people will be comfortably seated in our air conditioned school.  Disabled and elderly people will have a seating area that is easily accessible and comfortable.

Mission Statement

The Horizons Community Strategic Planning Team makes a commitment to stay active in the life of Sanborn Central Communities through the implementation of the plan.  We will do this by making the most out of the skills and talents of our residents to make changes for better communities.  Utilizing our communities’ human assets and natural resources will have the greatest pay off for our future.  We will do this by inviting community members to engage in community-wide improvement activities.  While completing these goals, we will be inclusive and respectful of the diverse needs of our individual communities and opinions among community members. Finally, we will focus our energy toward the completion of our goals.
