April Town Board Meeting–Economic Development
David Lambert, Mitchell SD, MADC is working as a regional coordinator with Brian Hisel to explore economic opportunities for the immediate outlying communities around Mitchell. He will be present updated current information on his work. MADC would like a small 3-year financial commitment from each community to split the costs of the resources the Mitchell Chamber of Congress and Development Corporation are making available for each towns use. They are offering office and equipment use as well as help from their staff as needed.
This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity for our towns to have the expertise of an experienced economic developer available. Please attend this meeting or call the town board members to give your support.

I attended the initial informational meeting in Mitchell regarding the regional development association. This association would encompass a 35-mile radius and would offer economic development assistance to our communities. I really think joining this regional development association would be beneficial for our small communities. Individually we would not be able to hire an economic development director, but this association would make it possible for our communities to receive economic development assistance. They have already gotten a 3-year commitment from Parkston and have gotten approval from Avera Health for a $150,000 3-year investment.

A golden opportunity to for our community to utilize the expertise of local, trained economic development experts - regional success means growth for the entire area - positioning our city for growth and sustainable resources! A great way to tap into the larger picture and encourage that venture capital to look our way - housing, new families, businesses - growth in the ag-related sector and small towns is the one positive note in the economic sector - let’s capitalize on that resource that is available to us!!!!!!!!!!!!
