Sanborn Central Horizons and Sanborn Central School have obtained exercise equipment has been placed in the old weight room (north of the music room) for public use. This fitness room is now open every school day from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m. for the public to come in and enjoy. Equipment includes a new stationary bike, stair stepper, elliptical machine and aero-dyne bike. Treadmills will be coming after Christmas. Also, the elementary students walk every Friday morning from 8:10 – 8:25 a.m. if you’d like to come in and walk with them.

Are you charging admission to the gym or is it a free service? Either way - neat idea to get folks fit!

It’s great that people are utilizing the exercise equipment at the Sanborn Central School that was purchased by Horizons II. It would be nice if we could schedule some times to accommodate people who work from 8 to 5 also. Would anyone be interested in some alternate times for the fitness room to be open?

  3. Harry Says:

If we can keep a control on a key for the exercise room, perhaps with a Forestburg person, I understand the school would be receptive to alternate times. Joyce is at school by 5:30 so could assist anyone coming before 8:00 am.

I would like to see an evening time made available, at least a few days per week. Perhaps some time may be available on weekends.

I hope you get a number of responses. Then we can work this out with the administration and the board.

    Thanks for your comments.

A sign-in sheet has now been placed in the Sanborn Central Fitness Room. Please sign in each time you use the fitness room. This information will be used to evaluate the usage of the equipment, which has been furnished by the Horizons II program.

What a great way for anyone to get some exercise. Are you using a room that wasn’t used much before? Iroquois would like to get something set up, but do not have an available room at the school.

  6. dawna Says:

Heather: The Fitness Room is FREE for the public to use.

Marlys: A new locker room/weight room was built at our school so we are using the old weight room as our Fitness Room.

In addition to the Fitness Room being open every school day from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., it will also be open on Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in December and January. If there is enough interest, one of our teachers has offered to hold an exercise class or a step aerobics class on Saturday mornings. Please post a comment to let us know if you are interested.
